Baptism and Holy Communion are the two sacraments for Lutherans.
Baptism is an act instituted by God, using water, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Lutherans believe Baptism is the entry rite into the Church.
Often ELCA Lutherans bring their infants to the baptismal font within the first months, even weeks, of a child's life, but anyone, including adults who have never been baptized may also be baptized following attendance of our new member class.
