Communion Bread Recipe

Sift dry ingredients together (3x):
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1 ¼ teaspoon baking powder
1 ¼ teaspoon salt

2 cups white flour
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
2 ½ teaspoons salt
Stir in 4 teaspoons oil  Stir in 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons oil
Mix together in separate bowl:
¾ cup + 2 tablespoons  very hot water (min 180 degrees F)
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons molasses

1 ¾ cup very hot water (min 180 degrees F)
6 tablespoons honey
6 tablespoons molasses
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well. Dough should be slightly sticky. Do not knead.  Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well. Dough should be slightly sticky. Do not knead.

Divide into four/eight balls and flatten each into a 1/4 inch thick disk.  With a knife, score a cross on the top of each loaf to make it easier to break the loaves.

Lay the loaves on a baking sheet. (Use parchment paper if you have it as it keeps the loaves from becoming too brown on the bottom.)  Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and brush the tops of the loaves with oil. Bake an additional 5-8 minutes. Let cool.
