On August 8: - Liberation Theology Workshop: This workshop will be led by Pastor-President Rolando Martinez of the Iglesia Cristiana Luterana en Honduras (Lutheran Christian Church in Honduras, our companion synod) on the important tenets of liberation theology and how it shapes the life and ministry of the Lutheran church in Honduras and the life of faith in a Central American context, and also how it relates and speaks to our context here in the United States. The workshop is free of charge, open to both clergy and laypeople, and includes a light lunch. The workshop will be held from 10:00 am to noon at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Duluth. RSVP to Rev. Dave Mesner at dmesner@lcgsduluth.org if possible.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this important theology that has shaped the life of faith of so many of our Latin American brothers and sisters and has influenced people of faith worldwide with its emphasis on social justice and empowerment of those who are marginalized by class divisions, poverty, racism and discrimination.
