Life Together Devotion – 9/18/2026

“When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
-Genesis 9:16-17

Who doesn’t stand in awe when a rainbow appears in the sky? A rainbow is beautiful with all its colors against the sky. And when does a rainbow often appear? Sometimes it shines after a welcome rain shower has passed, and sometimes I see it after a storm. God first put a rainbow in the sky as a sign to Noah that He would never again destroy the earth or any living creature with a flood. God continues to place the rainbow in the sky to this day. I don’t think God needs a reminder of His promise; I think the rainbow is a sign for us to remember God’s promise and His faithfulness to us. God will take care of us. We all encounter “storms” in our lives. Some are short and more of an inconvenience. Others are more severe and may seem unending. When “storms” gather in our lives, let’s remember that they are temporary. And let’s remember the rainbow. It is a sign that God will always take care of us, and God will be there to bring us through the storms.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness that holds firm through every season. When life feels uncertain or overwhelming, help me look up and remember Your promises of peace and presence. Help me remember that I am not alone as I navigate life’s storms. Teach me to trust that Your grace covers my past, grounds my present, and secures my future. Amen
