Inspiring a deeper and richer connection to Christ, our community, and each other.

Milestones

Faith grows over a lifetime, and along the way there are moments worth pausing for—moments to gather, remember God’s promises, learn together, and remind one another that God is with us through every age and every season.

Milestone Ministries helps us mark some of those moments together. From baptism at any age, to a first day of kindergarten, receiving a Bible, learning to pray, navigating big feelings, heading into middle school, and everything in between, each milestone gives households an opportunity to connect what is happening in everyday life with the faith we share.

Most milestones include a time for children and their grown-ups to gather, learn, wonder, and practice faith together, followed by a Sunday when we surround them as a congregation with prayer and blessing. Because faith is never something we grow into alone—we grow together, deeply rooted and connected to Christ, community, and each other.

Baptism | Any Age

Baptism is where our life in Christ begins—and there is no “right” age for it. Through water and God’s promise, we are named and claimed as beloved children of God and welcomed into the life of the church.

Back-to-School Blessing | All Ages • September 13

As a new school year begins, we surround students of every age, teachers, administrators, support staff, and everyone whose life is connected to our schools with prayer and blessing.

First Communion | All Ages
Gathering: October 29
Celebration in Worship: November 1

At Lord of Life, Christ’s table is open and all are welcome. There is no required age or grade when someone must begin receiving Holy Communion. For those preparing to receive Communion for the first time—or anyone who simply wants to learn more about this meal—we’ll gather to explore Jesus’ promises, ask questions, and celebrate the gift of grace we receive at Christ’s table.

1 Year Olds | Anniversary of Baptism Milestone
Gathering: April 1
Celebration in Worship: April 4

As we mark the first year of life and faith, families will remember the promises of baptism and celebrate the many ways their little ones are already growing as beloved children of God.

2 Year Olds | Feelings Milestone
Gathering: February 4
Celebration in Worship: February 7

Two is an age filled with some BIG feelings! Together we’ll explore the gift of emotions and remind children and grown-ups that God is with us in every feeling—joy, sadness, frustration, excitement, fear, and everything in between.

3 & 4 Year Olds | Story Bible Milestone
Gathering: January 14
Celebration in Worship: January 17

Our preschoolers and their grown-ups will discover the joy of Bible stories, meet Jesus through story, and receive resources for continuing those stories together at home.

Kindergarten | Kindergarten Milestone
Celebration in Worship: September 13

Starting kindergarten is a big deal! We’ll celebrate our newest kindergarteners and this new beginning in their lives, reminding them that wherever they go, God goes with them.

1st Grade | Prayer Milestone
Gathering: November 12
Celebration in Worship: November 15

First graders and their grown-ups will explore prayer and discover that there are all sorts of ways to talk—and listen—to God.

2nd Grade | God’s Love Milestone
Gathering: February 2
Celebration in Worship: February 14

Second graders and their grown-ups will spend time exploring a promise at the heart of our faith: they are deeply and completely loved by God—and that love shapes how we love one another.

3rd Grade | Bible Milestone
Classes: October 5, 12 & 19
Celebration in Worship: October 25

Third graders and their grown-ups will spend time discovering the Bible, learning how to use it, exploring God’s story, and beginning to make this book of faith their own.

4th Grade | Unlocking Faith Milestone
Gathering: April 15
Celebration in Worship: April 18

As fourth graders prepare for the transition into middle school, we’ll help them begin “unlocking” a faith that continues to grow with them—making space for questions, discovering practices they can carry with them, and remembering that they are never walking this journey alone.

Watch for more details and invitations as each milestone approaches. Whether you’ve been part of Lord of Life for years or are just beginning to find your place here, we look forward to celebrating these moments with you and your family.

Kid’s Time gives children a space created especially for them during Sunday worship. After beginning worship with their families, and following kid’s time in worship, kids are invited to head out during the sermon for time together exploring God’s story in ways that are active, engaging, and made for them.

Through Bible stories, conversation, games, music, and hands-on activities, kids are reminded again and again that they are loved by God, they belong in this community, and they are an important part of our life together.
Kid’s Time is offered year-round on Sundays during 9:30 a.m. worship for children age 3 through 4th grade.

Faith formation is about more than what happens in a classroom—it happens as we worship, learn, serve, share stories, ask questions, build relationships, and gather around tables together. Each Sunday after worship offers a different opportunity for children, adults, and households of all shapes and sizes to grow in faith and in our connections to Christ, community, and each other.

1st Sunday | Kids’ Faith Formation + Life Groups
Kids gather for Sunday School, Godly Play, and other opportunities to wonder, explore Scripture, and grow in faith together. At the same time, adults have space to gather with their Life Groups. Extended nursery care is available so parents and caregivers can participate too.

2nd Sunday | Cross+Gen
Faith is something we grow into together! Cross+Gen brings generations together for an interactive faith formation experience designed for children, youth, adults, families, and anyone else who wants to join in. Come ready to learn from Scripture—and from one another.

3rd Sunday | Faith in Our Community
We welcome one of our community partners to help us learn more about the people, needs, gifts, and work happening right here in our community. Adults and kids will have opportunities to learn, ask questions, make connections, and discover ways our faith calls us to love and serve our neighbors.

Last Sunday | Pancakes + Life Together
Come hungry! On the last Sunday of the month, our Senior High Youth serve pancakes as we gather around tables for breakfast, conversation, and time together as a church family. When a month has five Sundays, the fourth Sunday will include an additional themed faith formation opportunity for kids.

There’s no need to make every Sunday or have it all figured out. Come when you can. Bring your questions. Bring your kids. Bring yourself. There is a place for you as we keep connecting to Christ, Community, and each other.

Club 34 is a place for 3rd and 4th graders to come as they are, connect with friends, make new friends, and discover how faith is part of everyday life. Together we’ll explore Bible stories, ask questions, play, create, laugh, eat some snacks, and keep growing in what it means to live life together as God’s people.
Club 34 meets the 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month from 5:30–7:00 p.m.

VBS is four joy-filled nights of faith, friendship, learning, and plenty of fun! Children age 3 through those who have completed 4th grade are invited to join us as we explore God’s story through Bible stories, music, games, crafts, service, and time together.

And VBS takes all of us! Youth entering 5th grade and older are invited to serve as VBS helpers, leading alongside our adult volunteers and helping make the week amazing for our younger kids. Adults are a vital part of VBS too, and there are lots of ways to jump in, join the fun, and help create a week where every child knows they belong and are loved.

Sunday–Tuesday | 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Wednesday | Celebration Night
We wrap up our week around the table and in worship—and everyone is invited! Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by worship at 6:15 p.m., where we’ll celebrate what we’ve learned and experienced throughout VBS. Parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, and the whole congregation are welcome to join us for all of Wednesday evening as we eat, worship, and celebrate together.

Come for VBS. Come help make it happen. Come celebrate with us. There is a place for everyone!

Get Connected

The foundation of our worship is sharing the good news of God’s grace and inviting people to grow in their relationship with Christ, community and each other in creative, engaging and inspiring ways.
