Inspiring a deeper and richer connection to Christ, our community, and each other.

Living Abundantly in Christ, Community and Each Other

Life together is a gift.

Over these next ten weeks, and in the days leading us toward Advent, this devotional invites us to slow down, open Scripture, listen to the voices of this community, and pay attention to the ways God continues to meet us in the midst of our ordinary lives.

Each week begins with a short introduction to our theme, followed by daily devotions written by members of this congregation—people whose faith, wisdom, questions, stories, and lives enrich our life together. Each day includes a verse or two of Scripture to ground you, with an expanded reading offered on many days if you have the time and space to linger.

There is no perfect way to use this book. Read it first thing in the morning or before you fall asleep. Read it on your own, with someone you love, or alongside your Life Group. And if you miss a day—or several—there is nothing to catch up on. Grace is abundant here, too.

We are deeply grateful for the people who offered their words and reflections, their willingness to share a piece of their faith helps all of us grow. Special thanks to Darrell Pederson and Lilja Behr, who generously served as editors and helped bring the many voices of this project together.

And to Kevin Olson, for his artwork that he created for each week.

Our hope and prayer is that these pages become more than something you read. May they help us notice God already at work among us. May they open conversations, deepen questions, strengthen faith, and draw us into richer connections to Christ, to community, and to each other.

As you begin, receive this blessing:

May Christ meet you in these pages
and beyond them.
May the Word take root in you.
May grace find you on the days you are ready
and on the days you are not.
May you discover God in the stories of others
and recognize God’s presence within your own.
And through all the days ahead,
may you know that you are held,
you are beloved,

and you do not walk alone. Amen.

Life of Compassion – Seeing with Christ’s Eyes

We receive life, we are gathered into community, and then we are sent into the world to see and love our neighbors as Christ does. We are not compassionate in order to become God’s people; we are compassionate because, in Christ, we already are God’s beloved people. God’s mercy toward us becomes the wellspring of our mercy toward others. God’s

I witness unity within our walls every day. When I think of true unity, I envision Vickie Borgstrom, who has consistently woven that thread of

-reading Genesis 50:15-21 Joseph was the son of Jacob, the grandson of Isaac, and the great grandson of Abraham. Until he was 17 years old, he and his family were part of a group of inconspicuous people, the ‘Apiru or Habiru, who lacked citizenship in the established nations of the Near East. Just like the migrant workers of today, the
