New Member Orientation 101 – If you are looking for a church home, Lord of Life offers a New Member Orientation 101 class. These classes are for those interested in membership at Lord of Life and those seeking more information on Lord of Life’s mission and ministries. Member Orientation 101 class is a one-night event, and attendance is required by all who wish to become members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Campfire Worship/Potluck – We will have an outdoor worship service on Wednesday, August 22, at 6 pm. Bring a dish to pass for our potluck supper; hotdogs are provided.
Kindergarten Backpack Blessing – Kindergartners bring your backpacks for the Backpack Blessing on Sunday, August 26, at 9 am or Wednesday, August 29, at 6 pm.
Rally Day and Little Lamb Blessing – will be Wednesday, September 12, at 6 pm and Sunday, September 16, at 9 am and 10:30 am.
Would you like to help out with Kids’ Time during worship this fall? We are looking for leaders and helpers. If you would like to volunteer, sign up in the Narthex.
Worship Forum – Join us on Wednesday, August 29, at 7 pm for a conversation and to provide recommendations to help enrich our worship service and music here at Lord of Life.
Fall Clothing Share – Start saving your clothing for the fall clothing share on Friday, October 12 & Saturday, October 13 from 9 am to 3 pm. We are also looking for volunteers to help with set up during the week and to help during the clothing share. If you would like to help mark the back of your Connection Cards.
Faithful Mothers – Join us this fall for Faithful Mothers. We will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10 am to 11:30 am starting September 5. We will also meet on August 22. Childcare is available.
SAIL. (Staying Active and Independent for Life) – Join us for the SAIL Program on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 am -10 am in the Commons. This is a strength, balance and fitness evidence based program for adults 65 and older. It is similar to the Bone Builders, but has some additions.
Join the Choir this Fall – Choir will start on Wednesday, September 5 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.
Calling all Knitters and Crocheters – It’s not too early to start making scarves, hats and mittens for the giving tree. If you do not have yarn, stop in the office we have some available.
The Lakes Area Music Festival – Many concert opportunities are coming up for the month of August. You can see a full list by visiting their website at lakesareamusic.org. For these events no tickets are required and donations will be accepted in lieu of ticket fees.
- Don’t miss the festival’s 6th annual opera production, The Magic Flute, on Sunday, August 19 at 2pm in Tornstrom Auditorium.
- The Lakes Area Music Festival then presents Mozart the Great on Wednesday, August 22 at 7pm in Tornstrom Auditorium. Andrew Altenbach leads the LAMF orchestra in works by Mozart and Rossini, as well as Ravel’s G major piano concerto, featuring Henry Kramer.
- The festival finale, Portraits of Innocence, will take place on Saturday, August 25 at 7pm and Sunday, August 26 at 2pm in Tornstrom Auditorium. Two of the most dynamic musicians of our time, Christian Reif (conductor) and Julia Bullock (soprano) will lead the LAMF orchestra in Mahler’s mammoth fourth symphony.
