This Week’s Announcements

God’s Work. Our Hands – will be held on Sunday, September 9th. We’ll head out to our worksite AFTER WORSHIP on Sunday morning and work for a couple hours. The two worksites are Mid-Minnesota Women’s Shelter and Camp Confidence. There will be a light lunch served back at the church once the work is completed. Sign-up in the Narthex or by calling the church office 828-9374.

New Member Orientation 101 – If you are looking for a church home, Lord of Life offers a New Member Orientation 101 class. This class is for those interested in membership at Lord of Life and those seeking more information on Lord of Life’s mission and ministries. This class is a one-night event, and attendance is required by all who wish to become members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Church Office – will be closed on Monday, September 3 for Labor Day.

Faithful Mothers – Join us this fall for Faithful Mothers. We will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10 am to 11:30 am starting September 5.

Join the Choir this Fall – Choir will start on Wednesday, September 5 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.

Sunday Night Book Group Starts September 9th – Join us in reading and discussing “The Long Obedience in the Same Direction, Discipleship in an Instant Society” by Eugene Peterson, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm starting Sunday, September 9. We will meet at Lord of Life. Please bring a copy of the book. Book Sources: Barnes and Noble (new), Emily’s Books or CatTales (used).

Rally Day and Little Lamb Blessing – will be Wednesday, September 12, at 6 pm and Sunday, September 16, at 9 am and 10:30 am.

Save the Date – Come and listen to Paul Douglas speak on Saturday, September 22 from 10 am to 12 pm at Lord of Life. Hear about climate change and how it could affect your family and the world, and more important what we can do about it.

LOLLY (Lots of Living Left Yet) – will meet on Wednesday, September 19, at 11:30 am for a potluck lunch in Fellowship Hall. The program will be presented by a representative from “Fishing Has No Boundaries,” a weekend program of fun and fishing for people with disabilities. Jaimie’s 2nd Annual 5k Fun Walk/Run Dragonfly Run – Jaimie Senger was a proud member of Lord of Life. She passed away from Leukemia in October of 2015 at age 18 after a 5 year battle. In her memory, her family and friends have created Jaimie’s Purse, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to giving hope and support to other families in our area affected by pediatric cancer. Join us on September 22 at the Paul Bunyan Trail (Northland Arboretum), 14250 Conservation Drive, Baxter, MN 56425.  Register at https://runsignup.com/Race/MN/Baxter/JaimiesDragonflyRun. Registration begins at 7:30 am and the race begins at 9:00 am. Post-race raffles, snacks, and beverages provided. We hope to see you there!

Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life-You and your Spiritual Gifts Class –This course helps individuals to grow by discovering their gifts and learning how God wants them to be used. John Wolf will be teaching the class starting Sunday, September 30 through November 18 at 10:30 am. The class will cost $15 and you can register at https://lolbaxter.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/64/responses/new.

Fall Clothing Share – Start saving your clothing for the fall clothing share on Friday, October 12 & Saturday, October 13 from 9 am to 3 pm. We are also looking for volunteers to help with set up during the week and to help during the clothing share. If you would like to help email the church office at colleen@lolbaxter.org.

3rd Grade Bible Class – 3rd Graders and parents, are invited to 3 weeks of class where we will dig into and discover the treasure that is God’s word! Class dates: Monday, October 8, 15, 22 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Bibles will be received on Wednesday, October 24 and Sunday, October 28 during the worship services.
