This Week’s Announcements

Women of the ELCA – Heartland Fall Conference Gathering – Will be Thursday, October 4, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Registration begins at 8 am and Brunch will start at 9 am. The speaker will be Steve Larson from First Lutheran Church. Cost is $8.

Pray & Ponder Women’s Breakfast – will be Saturday, October 6, at 9:00 am for fellowship, lively discussions, food, and coffee. This year we’ll discuss Doubt: A Sign of Faith and Life.

Pancake Breakfast – Join us for a pancake breakfast, Sunday, October 7, starting at 9:45 am. Free-will donations will go towards our mission trip this summer.

Sunday Night Book Club – will meet at Northern Lakes Assisted Living Library, 8186 Excelsior Road, Baxter, on Sunday, October 7 & 21 at 6:30 pm. 

3rd Grade Bible Class – 3rd Graders and parents, are invited to 3 weeks of class where we will dig into and discover the treasure that is God’s word! Class dates: Monday, October 8, 15, 22 from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. Bibles will be received on Wednesday, October 24 and Sunday, October 28 during the worship services.

SHORT COURSE: How Lutherans Interpret the Bible – You are invited to explore these Lutheran ways of interpreting the Bible through a seven session series that will be offered each week at Lord of Life on both Monday evenings and Thursday mornings beginning October 8.  Based on a video series by Dr. Mark Allan Powell. Sessions will start Monday, October 8 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Thursday, October 11 from 8 am to 9 am.

Fall Clothing Share will be on Friday, October 12 from 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday, October 13 from 9 am to 12 pm. We are also looking for volunteers to help with set up during the week and to help during the clothing share. If you would like to help sign-up in the Narthex or email the church office at colleen@lolbaxter.org. Drop-off donations October 8 – October 11, 9 am to 3:00 pm.

Bring Your Favorite Apple Dessert to Share – On Sunday, October 14, 21 & 28. The Ladies of Congregational Life Team will also bring apple desserts for fellowship. You are invited to bring your favorite apple dessert to share at fellowship time. Email Pat Huhta at jjhuhta@msn.com if you have any questions or would like to bring a dessert to share.

New Members 101 Class – This class is for those interested in membership at Lord of Life and those seeking more information on Lord of Life’s mission and ministries. This is a one-night event and attendance is required by all who wish to become members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Here are the upcoming sessions:

  • Wednesday, October 3 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Monday, November 5 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm

Membership 201 – is available for those seeking more information about the Lutheran church. If you have been confirmed in an ELCA Lutheran Church and will be transferring your membership from an ELCA Lutheran Congregation, it is not necessary for you to attend these classes; however, you are highly encouraged to do so. This is a three night session: Wednesday, October 17, 31 & November 7 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

A Night at the USO – Sixteenth Annual Fall Fundraiser of The Legacy Chorale Saturday, October 6, at Cragun’s Resort. Cocktail Hour and Silent Auction at 5 pm; Dinner and show at 6 pm. $55 per person, tickets available online at legacychorale.org/tickets.

Luminating Life – Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center will host its annual fundraiser on October 11 at 5:30 pm at Luminary Fern, located in the historic Clocktower at Northern Pacific Center. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at Eventbrite.com or at The Women’s Center (218)828-1216.

Sponsorships for Campers – Join Luther Crest in this special day of family fun and fundraising. All proceeds will enable more children, youth and families to experience the programs at Luther Crest year-round. Saturday, October 20 at Carlos Creek Winery, 6693 Co.
