This Week’s Announcements

Congregational Meeting – will be held on Sunday, October 28 at 11:45 am. We will be reaffirming the budget, receiving last year’s fiscal report, making adjustments to the budget. All confirmed members in good standing are eligible to attend, participate and vote.

MEA Break – There will be no Wednesday supper or evening activities on October 17. Middle School Youth Group will not meet on Sunday, October 21.

LOLLY (Lots of Living Left Yet) – LOLLY will meet on Wednesday, October 17, at 11:30 am for a potluck lunch in Fellowship Hall. The program will be presented by Rev. Lilja Behr on Sacred Sites. For more information call either Pat Huhta 218-330-3447 or Mary Anderson 218-330-6171.

Bring Your Favorite Apple Dessert to Share – On Sunday, October 21 & 28. The Ladies of Congregational Life Team will also bring apple desserts for fellowship. Email Pat Huhta at jjhuhta@msn.com if you have any questions or would like to bring a dessert to share.

Trunks Needed for Trunk or Treating – Join us in the Lord of Life West parking lot for Trunk or Treating on Wednesday, October 31. Decorate your trunk and have fun handing out candy to the kids. Email colleen@lolbaxter.org to reserve your parking space.

C-O-S-T – Searching for a new ministry opportunity in our congregation? Stephen Ministry is our congregation’s one-to-one caring ministry. Right now we’re looking for members who are willing to pay the Commitment OSelf and Time and become Stephen Ministers, remembering that the blessings will outweigh the costs. Fall Cleanup Day – Join us for our fall cleanup day Saturday, October 27, starting at 9 am. We will be cleaning up the grounds, straightening up the play area, cleaning windows and landscaping.

Would You Like to Open Up Your Home and be a Host Home? We’re looking for people who are willing to open their homes for guests who are involved in singing groups, ministries, etc. The people we are seeking will be serving as a concrete expression of the love of Christ through our congregation. Those who say, “Yes!” will be added to a list and will be contacted when there is a specific need. Mark your Connection Cards if you are interested.

SHORT COURSE: How Lutherans Interpret the Bible – You are invited to explore these Lutheran ways of interpreting the Bible through a seven session series that will be offered each week at Lord of Life on both Monday evenings and Thursday mornings beginning October 8. Based on a video series by Dr. Mark Allan Powell. Sessions will start Monday, October 8 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Thursday, October 11 from 8 am to 9 am.

Lord of Life Prayer Shawl Gathering – Will be meeting on Tuesday, October 23 at 2:00 pm at Lord of Life for a Prayer Shawl Gathering and Blessing. Please join us as we continue this faithful ministry at Lord of Life. Prayer Shawls may be knitted or crocheted and there are patterns available, or any pattern you’d like to use. Membership 201 – is available for those seeking more information about the Lutheran church. If you have been confirmed in an ELCA Lutheran Church and will be transferring your membership, it is not necessary for you to attend these classes. Winter Is Around The Corner – help congregational life in making scarves, hats and mittens for the giving tree. If you do not have yarn, there is some available in the Narthex. 

Cherish All Children: My Neighbor is Not For Sale – Join an important faith community discussion on the prevention of child exploitation and human trafficking. Dates are Monday, October 22 and 29 and November 5 and 12 from 6 pm to 8 pm at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. 8th Street, Brainerd.
