Our Annual Congregational Meeting – will be on Sunday, June 23, from 10:15 am to 11:00 am. All confirmed members in good standing are eligible to attend, participate and vote.
Wear Blue Sunday, June 9 – June is Men’s Health Month, and the purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. Wear blue to church on Sunday, June 9. Blood pressure screening will also take place at 10 am.
Operation Sandwich Donations Needed – Operation Sandwich is a program that exists to end hunger by feeding people during the summer months when school lunch is not readily available. Last summer just over 10,000 lunches were distributed. Operation Sandwich is solely funded through the generosity of this community and needs donations of individually portioned: fruit snacks, granola bars, trail mix, fruit cups, goldfish crackers. Cash is always appreciated as it allows us to purchase fresh fruits, veggies and other items. You can bring your donations to Lord of Life Lutheran Church or Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 8th Avenue NE, Brainerd. Have leftover school supplies from the school year? Children’s Ministry could use them! Drop off any new or gently used school and craft supplies to the Church Office for Children’s Ministry to use for the upcoming ministry year.
Property Work Day – Mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, June 15, from 8 am to 12 pm. We will be doing yard work, washing windows and planting our Pentecost flowers.
LOL Annual Fish Fry – Join us Sunday evening, June 23 for our annual fish fry, hosted at Lord of Life Church, to raise funds to pay for supplies needed for our work in Tanzania. A free-will offering will be taken to cover the cost of the meal, with additional contributions going to the supplies needed. If you like fried fish, all you have to do is show up! The fish fry will run from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and will include fish, coleslaw, potatoes, bread, refreshments and desserts.
Summer Watering Volunteers needed – If you would like to volunteer to help keep our flowers and shrubs watered, sign-up in the Narthex for the week that works for you.
NE MN Synod Women of the ELCA Summer Convention/Gathering – Sugar Lake Lodge, near Grand Rapids, June 24 – 26, 2019. Registration packets are located in the Narthex.
Stephen Ministry – This coming week the Stephen Ministry training class at Lord of Life will be considering the subject of “Supervision: A Key to Quality Christian Care.” This training takes place in two sessions, both of which will be presented in an off-site retreat setting on June 8. (There will be no class on Tuesday, June 4.) In this two-part presentation the trainees will be learning how to engage in the process of small-group peer supervision so that they will be able to offer the highest-quality Christian care possible for their care receivers. Stephen Ministry is adding an important dimension to the ministry here at Lord of Life. We thank God for this opportunity He has given us for growth and service.
Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir in Concert – Hear the Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir perform Monday, June 17 at 7 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. Michael Culloton will conduct the choir, a program of Concordia College in Moorhead, in a varied concert ranging from classical choral works to folk songs and spirituals. A free-will offering will be collected.
Communion Bread Bakers – is a group for anyone interested in taking turns baking communion bread for our worship services. Bakers will be informed of the needs as they arise and will deliver the bread to church by the Saturday prior to worship. This group has no regularly scheduled meetings. Congregational Life Team – provides opportunities for fellowship within the church. We also provide for special and major events in the church. Some of these include: Chili contest, Easter breakfast, Mitten tree, Campfire service & potluck, Wednesday suppers and much more.
