Greetings from the Church Council. We hope you’re enjoying the fall season.

This past month, we took time to express our gratitude to Pastor Steven for his dedication to Lord of Life over the past 10 years. It was wonderful to share stories and memories together.

In addition to recognizing Pastor Steven, we also focused on the upcoming changes and transition within our church community. Pastor Erika and the council have been working closely to ensure a smooth transition during this time. Pastor Erika has graciously agreed to take on some added responsibilities, and after discussion, the council and staff have decided not to seek an interim pastor at this time. This will allow us the space to reflect, plan our direction forward, and prepare for our capital campaign.

The council is committed to supporting the staff financially and providing the resources needed to prevent burnout. Council Member Jane Peterson has agreed to lead and support the personnel and volunteer efforts we’ve identified. Jane has already started a list of initiatives to focus on, and we’ll be maintaining close communication with each other and the staff to ensure nothing is overlooked.

We’ve tentatively scheduled a Community Conversation on Sunday, November 24th after the service, where council members will be available to meet with church members. Look for more details in the near future.

Additionally, we will be testing a new volunteer system called Signup Genius, which we hope will simplify the process for members to find and sign up for volunteer opportunities.

We understand this period of transition involves a lot of changes, but we are committed to emerging as a stronger community. I am deeply grateful to our council and staff for their openness, understanding, and willingness to help.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and commitment to Lord of Life during this time. This transition will be a process, but we feel prepared to move forward in a positive way. Stay tuned for details on our upcoming capital campaign, which will help raise additional funds to supplement regular giving, assist with our short-term budget needs, and pay off our mortgage. With a successful campaign, we hope to raise extra funds to address other areas of need within our church community.

Thank you,

Andy Isackson, Council President
