Bible Study – Tuesday Morning
Have done a variety of things; all related to the Bible; we’re just Christians coming together to discuss the Bible and how we can apply it to our lives. And we have snacks.
Care For Creation Workgroup
The Caring for Creation Workgroup on ecology and the environment is grounded in a biblical vision of God’s intention for the healing and wholeness of creation. a Christian understanding of the human role to serve in creation, and a hope rooted in God\’s faithfulness to the creation from which humans emerge and depend upon for sustaining life. It focuses on an understanding of the human role in creation, the problem of sin and the current environmental crisis. The Care for Creation expresses a call to pursue justice for creation through active participation, solidarity, sufficiency and sustainability, and states the commitments of the ELCA for pursuing wholeness for creation — commitments expressed through individual and community action, worship, learning, moral deliberation, and advocacy.
Communion Bread Bakers
Friends of ….
We have several informal groups within Lord of Life that support various local and regional ministries. These groups do not meet on a regular basis, but come together when there is a specific need to gather. As our church office receives information from specific ministries, it is often passed on to the “Friends of” group for their awareness and the ability to act upon it.
Currently, we have the following “Friends of…” groups operating in the church:
- Friends of Baxter Elementary
- Friends of the Homeless
- Friends of the Soup Kitchen & Food Shelf
L.O.L.L.Y.
Stands for “Lot’s of Living Left Yet” – We’re a fellowship group for people ages 55+. We meet monthly for a potluck/carry-in meal, followed by a program.
(Currently on hold due to Covid-19)
Prayer Chain
Our mission is to faithfully lift up in prayer the needs and concerns of our church family and our loved ones, remembering what Jesus told us in Matthew 18:19-20: ” ‘Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.
There are no meetings of the Prayer Chain group per se. But those who join the prayer chain are expected to attend a training session once-per-year. Attendance at a training session is required to begin receiving Prayer Chain requests.
Prayer Shawl Ministry

Shawls are given to people who are chronically ill, isolated, homebound, have cancer, are coping with grief and loss, or simply having stressful times. Prayers and blessings are knit into every shawl. Meets quarterly. Lessons are available for anyone who wants to learn! For background information on this ministry visit the www.shawlministry.com.
