Club 56: Conversations Around the Table

Inviting all 5th-6th graders and their families to participate! We have a new time and new format for this year! Class will run from 5pm-6pm on Wednesday nights! There will still be 4-themed sessions which last 4 weeks in length!

Each class will begin with a time as a family to connect with Tim, Pastor Erika and other families over Zoom. Then you will engage in a conversation around the dinner table with your family only (offline). Throughout the year if allowed we will also meet in person!

The hope behind this program is to allow students to spend time building relationships with family, their peers and their family of faith. Thus, enriching faith formation for everyone that is involved!

First Communion Class (Normally in 5th Grade)

Every spring we hold our first communion class to introduce the origins and meaning of Holy Communion. The class is four sessions long and concludes with a session on the baking of communion bread and a discussion of how communion takes place both at Lord of Life and at other congregations around the world.

First Communion Class 2021 Dates: March 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th

Our Confirmation program helps fulfil our mission statement by connecting youth to Christ, our community and each other through a number of events. The program is open to students in 7th-9th grade. Confirmation class meets on Wednesday evenings to study scripture, Luther’s Small Catechism, spend time in prayer and be in community with others. Students will have the opportunity to also assist in worship and to explore a variety of service opportunities.

During the 2020-21 program year, confirmation will be conducted in a small group model by grade level. This year due to Covid-19 confirmation will be conducted in a hybrid learning model. We will begin the year with classes online but hope to offer in-person class later in the year as advised by our SMART Team and Church Council.

In-person confirmation classes are returning Wednesday, February 3, at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Distance-learning options will still be available for those who are not comfortable returning at this point.
