B.L.A.S.T Event (Believe, Learn and Seek Together) – Families join us in between services on Sunday, November 24th as we grow in faith together. Families who attend will be making a Jesse Tree. The Jesse Tree tradition is an advent calendar that takes your family through Creation to the Christmas Story. The name comes from Jesse, who was the father of King David and stems from Isaiah 11:1-4. Lord of Life will provide all materials. No registration necessary.
Caring Friends Lefse Making – We will be making Lefse on Friday evening, November 22nd, 5:00 pm -9:00 pm and on Saturday, November 23rd, 9:00 am – 12 pm. Lefse will be sold at Lord of Life on Sunday, November 24th, just in time for Thanksgiving. Sign up in the Narthex if you would like to help.
Thanksgiving Eve Services – will be on Wednesday, November 27 at 12 pm and 7 pm. Join us after the 12 pm service and at 6:30 pm for pie/dessert. No Wednesday supper.
LOLLY (Lots of Living Left Yet) – will meet on Wednesday, November 20, at 11:30 am for a potluck lunch in Fellowship Hall. For more information call the church office at 218-828-9374.
It’s Turkey Time – Bridges of Hope will provide the names of approximately 15 families who are in need of food baskets. Please consider donating canned vegetables and cranberries, boxes of stuffing, boxes or bags of potatoes (bagged potatoes only if close to the holiday to ensure they stay fresh), and jars or packets of gravy. Bring items to the labeled Thanksgiving Drive Basket located in the Narthex, and/or donate funds toward the purchase of the turkeys and pumpkin pies. All donations must be at the church no later than Wednesday, November 20th.
Prayer Chain In-service – Our next in-service will be Wednesday, December 4 at 7:00 pm or Sunday, December 8 at 10:30 am. We require a commitment of each member to attend at least one prayer chain in-service during a 12-month period. It is the individual’s responsibility to be sure they attend an in-service. Would you like to join the prayer chain? Pick one of the in-services to attend.
“Angels, Lambs, Ladybugs, and Fireflies” – Be a part of this year’s Christmas Program being held on Sunday, December 15th at the 9am service. Children of all ages invited to participate. Practices are offered on Sundays 9:15 am -10 am and 10:45 am-11:30 am or Wednesdays 4:15 pm-5pm and 6:15-7pm. Participating children are encouraged to attend one practice each week. Winter Is Around The Corner – Help Congregational Life in making scarves, hats and mittens for the mitten tree. Bring completed mittens, scarves and hats to the church office. The mitten trees are located at Lord of Life and the Baxter Police Station. Do you know of someone in need? Let them know about our mitten trees or bring items to them.
Undie Sunday – Once again Congregational Life will be collecting new, packaged underwear, socks, bras, and baby onesies for all ages and genders. There will be an underwear drawer in the Narthex and we will be collecting the whole month of November!
Meals on Wheels – Volunteers are needed for home delivered meals to senior citizens in the Brainerd/Baxter area. If you have an extra hour a week, they could use your help! For more information, call Kathy at 824-6026 between 8:00 am-1:00 pm. Meals are provided by Lutheran Social Service.
Please pick up your pans from the kitchen. Items not claimed will end up being donated to the Youth Rummage Sale in the spring.
Men’s Breakfast – meets every Friday morning at 7:30 am for breakfast and Bible study.
Gifts Encouraged for the Seminarian Scholarship Fund – Donations will be used to support those from this congregation who go on to attend seminary with the intention of serving as a rostered minister in the church.
Pastor Visitation Request – If you anticipate a hospitalization and you would like to request a pastor to visit, email the church office at colleen@lolbaxter.org.
